Pierce Brosnan’s Incredible Journey To Bond.

By the time Pierce Brosnan marries journalist Keely Smith in County Mayo, Ireland in August 2001 he was already considered one of the coolest versions of 007.

This would be Brosnan’s second marriage following the tragic passing of his first wife Cassandra ten years previous.

Brosnan was born to play James Bond as his rugged good looks complimented his searing humor and dashing confidence – many have said he was the perfect combination of all the things fans of Bond loved about both Sean Connery and Roger Moore.

Brosnan took chances almost constantly from working in TV and West End Productions to supplement his income to taking out a loan and moving to LA where he eventually secured the title role in ‘Remington Steele’.

However, ‘Remington Steele’ kept him from taking Bond after Roger Moore’s final appearance in ‘A View To A Kill’ and he would have to wait another 10 years before securing ‘Goldeneye’ and helping bring Bond back after a 6 year absence that almost killed the franchise.

Pierce Brosnan’s time as 007 saved the most iconic franchise in movie history and his contributions can not be overstated.

Did you know Brosnan’s first wife Cassandra Harris played the doomed Countess Lisl von Schlaf in 1981’s ‘For Your Eyes Only’?

Did you also know Pierce Brosnan (then unknown in movie circles) accompanied his wife on set where he met “Cubby” Broccoli?

After meeting Brosnan one time Broccoli said “If he can act – he’s my guy!”

It would take over a decade, but he was Cubby’s guy!
